iBUILD: The Ultimate Team Communication Challenge

Introduction

Strong teams are built on strong communication. In iBUILD, your team is put to the test in a highly interactive exercise that highlights the importance of clarity, feedback, and role awareness. Like a chain, your success depends on every link working together – and if one breaks, the whole structure falls apart.

How the Activity Works

Teams are divided into small groups and assigned distinct roles:

• Architect – sees the model

• Courier – passes on the design

• Builder – attempts to recreate the model based on instructions

The goal: reconstruct a hidden model using only verbal communication along a linear communication chain. But there’s a twist – each role comes with limitations, making clear instructions and feedback crucial.

There’s also a silent “Runner” who can only respond to questions using yes/no paddles – adding a physical and visual layer of interaction.

This unique setup simulates the challenges of workplace communication and creates the perfect foundation for reflection and discussion.
